Your Pet Gazette - Vet Visits this Fall

It’s been a challenging year for many of you and we want to reassure you that the availability of veterinary care for your pets is not something you need to worry about. We are prepared to continue providing a high standard of veterinary care for your furry family members during the fall and winter months. We continue to perform routine medicine and urgent care appointments as well and surgery and dental services.

Read on to learn more about your next visit to the hospital.

If you have not been to see us yet this year, you may be wondering about how a visit to the veterinarian works these days. Rest assured, we are still seeing patients for all types of medical care including annual check-ups, vaccines, blood tests, surgery and dental care. We may need a little more notice than you were accustomed to previously since appointments take a little bit longer these days.

For the safety of our team and our clients, veterinary visits will continue to be “pets only” for the time being. Please allow approximately 45 to 60 minutes for an appointment. When you arrive for your appointment, please call us from your vehicle which should be parked at the rear of the building. You can access parking via the lane way off Herrick Street. PLEASE be sure to park behind the hospital rather than our neighbour’s parking zone.

One of our team members will come outside to collect your pet and a veterinarian will discuss the examination with you over the phone. Please ensure that your phone is charged and the line remains open for the veterinarian to call you during the assigned appointment time.

For those clients arriving on foot in inclement weather, please be sure to let us know you do not have a vehicle. If you wish, we can make arrangements for you to enter via a separate entrance where you may safely wait in an enclosed comfortable space. Please be sure to bring a mask if you need to wait inside. Only one person will be allowed inside per appointment. Masks are mandatory.

We have curbside pick-up service for prescription refills and pet food supplies at the front of the building. Please call ahead to order your pet’s supplies and again when you arrive to pick them up. In the case of extreme cold weather conditions, we can allow up to one person inside at a time due to space limitations.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and support while we navigated through all the challenges of running a business throughout the pandemic. We now have a full compliment of staff to assist you through the process of a veterinary care visit and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

OCTOBER IS R.V.T. MONTH:

Throughout October, we celebrate our awesome team of registered veterinary technicians. These highly skilled people care for your pets throughout their visits to the hospital. They have a number of responsibilities including nursing care, anesthesia, radiography, surgical care, dentistry, pharmacy, pain management, weight management, client counseling and so much more.

This year, two new Registered Veterinary Technicians have joined our team bringing new skills and knowledge to the practice. We would like to welcome Chantal Klein and Tyler Thorkildsen to the team. You will almost certainly meet them during your next visit to the hospital.
