Annex Animal Hospital provides spay and neuter surgery services for dogs, cats, and rabbits. Every patient will receive intravenous fluid therapy and medications for pain control while at our animal hospital.
Pets that are spayed or neutered at six months of age will benefit greatly from the surgery. With female pets, estrus (known as heat) will be eliminated, and they will no longer experience the “heat cycle.” The surgery also reduces the chances of female pets developing breast tumors, ovarian cysts, and uterine infections as they grow older.
Male pets may display significantly less aggression and territorial behaviors such as urine spraying in male cats and urine marking by male dogs. Male pets will also have a decreased chance of developing perineal hernias and several types of cancer later in life.
The benefits of having your pet spayed or neutered will not only benefit your companion and household, but will also have a positive impact on the community as it reduces the likelihood of unexpected puppies and kittens.
Your pet will receive complete care instructions and post-operative pain medications once they are discharged from the hospital by one of our registered veterinary technicians. We will be more than happy to answer any of your questions about the post-surgical recovery process.
